Review of JBL duet II desktop speaker system

JBL DUET II desktop speakers is all new and amazing pair of audio speakers from JBL under sub 100$ category.

price tag category.Comes in silver and grey color shades with glossy black

background.
It comprises of 40-millimeter Phoenix SE speakers in modern looking oval

enclosure. It has 6 Watt Amplifier. Thus donot expect the ooomph of a sub

woofer system. Its great for normal music listening experience.

The JBL Duet II is compatible with all 3.5mm jack sockets. Which includes

personal computers, portable MP3 devices and most modern music mobile phones

including Iphone and Nokia E and N series phones. It has onboard digital

amplifier system. Which definitely produces impressive sound with minimal

distortions. Yes, at high volume it does produce noticable distortions

specially for Low frequencies. But thats acceptable at the given price tag.

Volume and power controls are located at the very top of the system. This

works best for those who do not like to change equalizer frequencies much as

per choice.Just one control and life is easier. This system excels in

producing Midrange and high range frequency music.

The system’s specs are:
12 watts total power
60 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response
80 dB signal to noise ratio

This is a remoteless system. This is recommend for someone who is looking for

a compact desktop speaker system with cool stylish room presense.

The cables are all hardwired. The top end of each speaker is flat. The

frontface of the system has a non detachable silver net, while the back panel

of each speaker is shiny black surface. All this is accompanied by A tiny

green LED which indicates if the speaker is on or off.

This is perfect for the work areas where volumes shouldn't be too high.

Speakers seam to have interference with EDGE enabled phone while on usage.

Vinal Verdict:
Rating: 8/10
The JBL Duet II delivers quality audio at a reasonable price.

Pros

Great audio performance at mid and high range volumes along with stylish

alienatic design at very affordable price tag.
Very Easy volume control system.

Cons
Signs of noice interference with a EDGE enabled mobile device
Hardwired cables can't be replaced. Distorts at high volumes, especially at

lower frequencies.

Skype LITE for NOKIA and other s60 devices

Skype LITE for NOKIA and other s60 devices
- Download SKYPE LITE

From Nokia N97 ownwards,Most
of the N series and
probably E series Nokia phones
will be packaged with free Skype VOIP
software. This will be integrated with the address book in the device,
thus enabling the users to easily see when their Skype contacts are online.
So, mobile users can call their skype contacts by using 3G
and WiFi to make and receive free
Skype to Skype cheap voice calls.

There will be subsequent software upgrades
available for the Skype software for versions. Not to mention apart from VOIP
calls (for which skype is actually world famous) , the users can also chat with
friends online.[Similar to NIMBUZZ,FRING
and many other market leaders in VOIP and chat through mobile phone]

With Skype a popular and secure voip service this should be a welcome addition
to many users. .

Till date its not clear that skype mobile will support video calling or not.If
skype can breaktrough this and can successfully provide Cheap/free
videocalling
facility to users, it would be a major reason for
many users to start using the service in the first place. Without
video support Skype has nothing to extra to offer to the already available VOIP
and IM options on your mobile phone[Just to mention NIMBUZZ and FRING are market
leaders in this for s60 Platform phones]
.Skype
would require something extra to take over their well established market on
mobile platform.

Still undoubtedly a collaboration of two companies like Skype
and Nokia will increae their own
customer base counts. Hmm, smart move i Say.

Skype can be downloaded with ease!

'Download free Skype Lite'

You can now download the Skype "Lite"
Java ME
application directly to your phone. All major make or
brand phones are supported on the site. This includes most recent Nokia
and Sony Ericsson phones and selected
Motorola, Samsung and LG models. The site detects
your phone model but unfortunately doesn't stop you from downloading the app
with an unsupported phone.

Skype Lite is quite limited compared with other mobile VOIP applications like
Gizmo5 and Fring,
NIMBUZZ
. It uses your mobile voice channel (and minutes) so
calls might not be free, even to Skype numbers.

Skype Lite is mainly useful for Skype IM and cheap international calling. You
can make calls to Skype numbers anywhere in the world for the cost of a local
call. You can also call international mobile and fixed line numbers using Skype

Skype and Nokia finally announced a S60 Skype client that supports free Skype
to Skype calling on WiFi or 3G.

The first phone to feature Skype pre-installed will be the N97.
Nokia uses the Symbian S60 OS
in its phones which should allow the application to run in the background so
you can get your Skype calls on the go. The app will run on both Wi-Fi and on
3G.

Jose-Luis Martinez, vice president at Nokia’s Nseries division, said
in a statement: “With more than 400 million Skype users worldwide, the
integration of Skype on Nokia Nseries mobile computers is a significant step
in bringing converged Internet experiences from the desktop to the world’s
most advanced mobile computer.”

Skype will be rolled out on other devices after the Nokia N97 goes live in
the third quarter.

Drawbacks of SKYPE on MOBILE handsets:

[1] Powerfull Battery Storage: -

One hidden secret about skype's performance on PCs is, While using skype on
PC it uses part of the bandwidth of your internet connection to route other
peoples
calls. So if they use the same technology its going to consume
mobile preciseous battery power without user's knowledge (I think, if they can
give user some notification about this it would be fare enough as the same prefernce
for himself will be given on other user's networks)

[2] Strong signals search:

This facility will rock the users only when the network signals are strong.
Else again this will drain down mobile's battery power for searching signals
to support the application requirements.
